Taking responsibility for accidentally killing a teenager and injuring two others in a car crash last year, might not be enough to spare Lane Garrison of jail time after he was charged with manslaughter on Thursday.

26-year-old Lane Garrison, best know for his part in hit TV show “Prison Break,” who was accused of felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony driving under the influence causing injury to multiple victims and felony driving with a blood-alcohol level above the .08 percent legal limit causing injury appeared in a Beverly Hills court but did not enter a plea.

Garrison allegedly had a blood-alcohol content of .20, more than twice the legal limit, and was under the influence of cocaine, according to police.

According to celebrity gossip web site, TMZ.com, Judge Eldon Fox pushed the formal arraignment to April 11. TMZ also reported that the actor had about two hours to voluntarily turn himself into authorities.

The actor, who was driving a Land Rover when he struck a tree on December 2, killing high school student, Vahaghn Setian, and injuring two 15-year-old girls who were in the car at the time of the accident, was released on a $100,000 bail which was initially set at $200,000.

If convicted, Garrison faces a maximum punishment of six years and eight months in prison.

Garrison's attorney, Harland Braun, told reporters that he was working on a deal with prosecutors and said his client “has a deep sense of responsibility, the real issue is the level of culpability."

"He is going to accept responsibility for his conduct," the lawyer continued. "The only question is what is the level of responsibility."

Garrison, a Dallas native, was ordered to hold back from driving, drinking alcohol or having any contact with the victims or witnesses in the case.

Braun earlier said that his client met the three youths at a grocery store and accepted their invitation to a party where he had a drink. However, TMZ.com reported sources at the party said the car crash occurred after reaching the party where Garrison was spotted drinking shots of Grey Goose vodka straight from the bottle.

In addition to the alcohol, Garrison was also tested positive for cocaine at the time of the crash.

One of victim’s family said in a statement they felt "gratified" by the charges.

"They have lost their only child due to Lane Garrison's recklessness," the statement issued by Setian’s family attorney Paul R. Kiesel, wrote.

DA spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said: "After a full review of the evidence, we felt the charges we filed were appropriate charges."
